Bringing your family to Dubai is a top priority after establishing your business. As a foreign investor with a valid UAE residence visa, you have the right to sponsor your immediate family members to live with you. This guide breaks down the eligibility, requirements, and process for family sponsorship in 2026.
Who Can an Investor Sponsor?
An investor holding a valid partner or investor visa can sponsor their immediate family, which primarily includes:
- Spouse: You can sponsor your wife or husband by providing an attested marriage certificate.
- Children: You can sponsor sons up to the age of 25 and unmarried daughters of any age.
- Parents: Sponsoring parents is also possible but comes with stricter requirements, including a higher minimum salary and a mandatory deposit.
- Stepchildren: Can be sponsored with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the biological parent.
Key Eligibility Requirements for Sponsorship (2026)
To qualify as a sponsor for your family, you must meet the following criteria:
- Valid Investor Visa: You must hold a valid UAE residence visa as an investor or partner.
- Sufficient Income: You must demonstrate a minimum monthly income of AED 4,000 (or AED 3,000 plus accommodation). A higher salary is required for sponsoring parents (typically AED 20,000).
- Proof of Accommodation: A valid tenancy contract (Ejari) for a rented apartment or proof of property ownership is mandatory.
- Health Insurance: Providing valid health insurance for every sponsored family member is a legal requirement in Dubai.
Family Sponsorship Process: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Attest Your Documents
Ensure your marriage certificate (for spouse) and birth certificates (for children) are attested by the UAE Embassy in your home country and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE.
Step 2: Apply for the Entry Permit
Apply for an entry permit (also known as a pink visa) for your family members. This allows them to enter the UAE to complete the residency process.
Step 3: Medical Fitness Test and Emirates ID
Once your family is in the UAE, they must undergo a medical fitness test (for those over 18) and complete their biometrics for the Emirates ID application.
Step 4: Visa Stamping
After a successful medical test, you submit all documents to the immigration authorities to get the residence visa stamped in their passports, making their stay legal.
